Next-Gen Nissan Navara Teased in New Video

After releasing a single teaser image earlier this week, Nissan has now dropped a video teaser of the new Navara small pickup truck.

While the Nissan Navara is essentially the same as Frontier midsize pickup truck sold in North America, a Nissan USA representative has confirmed that this teaser is for the globally available Navara which has little relation to the truck that will sell here. So far Nissan hasn’t announced any details pertaining to a new Frontier, though it seems overdue as the current truck has been on sale for a nearly a decade.

Also hinting at a new Frontier for North America is the recent Frontier Diesel Runner Concept, which uses a small Cummins diesel four-cylinder engine that makes approximately 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, hooked up to a ZF eight-speed transmission. Nissan said the truck was simply a “project vehicle,” but considering the brand’s tie up with Cummins for the next Titan half-ton, a small diesel-powered Frontier seems like a distinct possibility.

The new video teaser shows Nissan putting the truck through preliminary testing, claiming that the new Navara has already seen “1,000,000 km driven in real-world conditions.”

The truck will be fully revealed on Wednesday, June 11.
