Jaguar F-Type Coupe Could Cost More Than Convertible

Jaguar will bring the a production concept version of its hardtop F-Type to Frankfurt in September before unveiling the showroom-ready version in Tokyo during late November.

Surprisingly, Jaguar is also expected to ask a price premium over the convertible F-Type, according to a report from Drive. It wouldn’t be the only brand currently following that kind of price structure either. Porsche charges customers more for the Cayman than the Boxster.

Part of that could be due to the coupe’s potential for improved performance credentials. It will be stiffer and lighter without the cloth top and all its gear. Jaguar is expected to offer an even hotter R-S version of the car that will borrow pieces from the XKR-S GT. That car will likely have a more potent version of the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 massaged to make over 540 hp compared to the current range-topper’s current 495 hp rating.
