2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition: Ford announces the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition, which adds unique new touches to the high-performing off-road pickup truck – including a unique new exterior color, Ruby Red Metallic, upgraded interior and custom exterior graphics. (04/09/2013)

Given the typical tit for tat truck battle between GM, Chrysler and Ford, it’s sort of shocking that the SVT Raptor remains unanswered. General Motors President Mark Reuss had something to say about that in Texas this week, but you won’t like his position. He said there are too many other issues that need to be solved before the company can consider building such a niche product. “We still have holes in Cadillac,” said Reuss, alluding to the fact that Cadillac is toiling to become a “tier 1” luxury brand on par with BMW, Audi and Mercedes.

He said that Buick also needs attention, making the likelihood of the company finding the money and time to put something together that could take on the Raptor very low. When it comes to the brand’s SUVs based on the same platform as the half-ton pickups however, lead engineer Jeff Luke says that the GM is considering a more hardcore off-road variant, but stopped short of commenting on trucks specifically.
