SRT Viper Color Name Gets Narrowed Down to Three Finalists

Choosing a clever or catchy name for a vehicular paint color is no easy task, so the folks at SRT had the bright idea of making someone else do it. The company has announced three finalists in its contest to name the Viper’s latest blue hue, and boy are they creative…

Starting this competition off to name the blue is… Competition Blue. How inspiring! We bet it took whoever came up with this name tens of seconds to think of it. Bravo my friend, bravo.

Next we come to Viral Blue, which is a tip of the hat to one of the hottest internet buzzwords these days, although some might mistake it for a vehicular infection. Let’s hope it has nothing to do with Ebola.

The final, er, finalist was originally reported as Blue Racer, which would have made total sense as it’s the name of an actual snake. But instead it was replaced by Overtaking Blue, which may or may not be a jab at Ford and the other car with a snake badge. Is it the Transit Connect? Oh, wait…

These finalists beat out 11,000 other names and the contestant who provides the winning entry will get a free trip to the 24-Hours of Daytona endurance race. The winning entry will be decided online with visitors to the SRT website voting on one of the three choices. An SRT Viper dressed in the unnamed blue paint scheme is on display this week at the 2013 SEMA Show.
