After revealing its new RC350 F Sport and wild GT3 concept cars at the Geneva Motor Show today, Lexus has confirmed its next product will arrive soon at the Beijing Motor Show.

There the Toyota luxury division will unveil the production version of its LF-NX Concept, which, unsurprisingly, will be called the NX.

“The LF-NX Concept, presented last year in Frankfurt, showed the Lexus design direction for a mid-size crossover, positioned below our RX,” said Lexus Europe boss Alain Uyttenhoven, speaking in Geneva today. “Today I can confirm that Lexus will reveal this unique crossover in less than 50 days. The world premiere will take place on April 20, at the Beijing Motor Show.”

A product that’s long been missing from the Lexus lineup, the more compact and more affordable NX model will be important to boost sales, particularly in urbanized markets like Europe – where the Lexus brand is still struggling to compete with long-standing German automakers.

Show as both a hybrid concept and a turbocharged model, expect both to be available in production form with the NX200t marking the first use of a turbocharged engine in a Lexus product.
