According to Jaguar Land Rover engineering boss Wolfgang Ziebart, “hybrid will become the dominant drivetrain among ‘upper class’ models,” from the British automaker.

He also said in an interview with Autocar that Jaguar Land Rover is focusing on advanced driver assistance systems and new fuel-saving technologies to meet future fuel economy regulations in global markets. Recently, both Bentley and Rolls-Royce both said hybrid variants will be necessary to help meet increasing emissions regulations, though Bentley has been the only brand to offer specific plans.

Ziebart however admitted that Jaguar Land Rover will keep a close eye on the upcoming Tesla Model X and stated that the brand has no intentions of neglecting any segments if it shows strong growth potential. As of now, no decision has been made to add an EV to JLR’s lineup.
