Is Mercedes-Benz readying its own competitor to the BMW X4 and X6 models?

That certainly seems the case with the new Concept Coupe SUV that debuted at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, which clearly takes notes from the BMW “Sports Activity Coupe” models. Sporting muscular wings, large flared feders and massive 22-inch wheels, the Concept Coupe SUV has a high beltline and generous ground clearance. As described by Mercedes-Benz’s Head of Design, the concept is “Sensual as a coupe – vision as an SUV.”

The concept measures in at 16-feet long and over six-feet wide with aggressive styling and a sporty look, all wrapped up in an SUV body. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter V6 with 333 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque mated to the brand’s nine-speed automatic transmission.

It is likely that the German automaker is gauging interest for such a model to be added to its lineup, especially given now that BMW has introduced the X4.
