Thought MINI was done with interesting concepts after the Paceman pickup? Think again.

The British automaker has revealed its MINI Superleggera Vision, a one-off roadster that MINI says “elegantly perpetuates what the Classic MINI started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials.” The handcrafted open-top two-seater is the result of a collaboration between MINI Design and Milan-based coachbuilder Touring Superleggera. High end materials were used throughout the MINI Superleggera Vision, including black chrome and bespoke Italian leather, while the traditional Italian body construction has been paired with an authentic British design.

Boasting hand-shaped aluminum body panels, an electric powertrain and carbon fiber components, the Superleggera Vision packs plenty of technology found in today’s supercars.

The MINI Superleggera Vision will make its official debut this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este.

“In this car all unnecessary equipment or decoration is sacrificed, as performance is gained through lightness and efficiency of the bodywork and interior,” said Louis de Fabribeckers, Head of Design at Touring Superleggera. “The Italian touch is in the proportions and the typical waistline.”
