Imagine being in the middle of a spirited debate with your significant other, closing the door with gusto and gasping in surprise as the airbag deploys.

For hundreds of people who filed complaints with the U.S. National Highway Traffic administration, imagination isn’t necessary. A safety probe by the Administration is being upgraded to an engineering analysis, bringing 335,195 of the mid-size sedans from the 2008 model year one step closer to a recall. According to NHTSA documents, 14 injuries are associated with the defect according to filed complaints.

According to the NHTSA filling, Honda changed the crash parameters for closing door force in the ECU software to reduce the number of inadvertent side airbag deployments in Accord sedans, but the coupe models use a different code.

In Honda's defense; a lot of Honda drivers do tend to be impatient or angry, thereby increasing the likelihood of slamming doors.

That's actually a valid point and I agree with you there.
