Alfa Romeo’s next mid-size sedan will debut in June, 2015, positioned between the BMW 3 Series and 5 Series.

The car is under early development and, for now, is internally codenamed project 952. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne hopes to boost Alfa Romeo’s global sales to 400,000 units annually by 2018, up from roughly 74,000 in 2013. The ambitious goal will include the brand’s new mid-size sedan, a larger flagship and a crossover roughly the same size as the Audi Q5. FCA is targeting 150,000 annual sales in the U.S.

A complete re-launch of the brand in this market is about to be underway with 200 dealer locations planned to appear by the end of 2015. Alfa Romeo market its U.S. return in April at the New York Auto Show where it displayed its lightweight 4C sports car, which is currently retailing through Maserati dealerships and a handful of high performing Fiat stores.
