Lexus LFA Successor Shelved
Lexus has decided to not build another supercar for the time being.
The plan to build a successor to the LFA has been put on hold. Lexus executive vice president Mark Templin confirmed that the project has been shelved in an interview with Automotive News at the Detroit Auto Show.
“We don’t have a plan for an LFA successor right now,” he said.
The company will still probably offer a halo nameplate in the future, but in the meantime it plans on focusing its efforts to make its F Sport packages and F-series models more appealing.

According to Templin, the LFA wasn’t supposed to be as expensive as it turned out to be with a starting price of around $375,000. As engineers began development on the sports car, it became more and more expensive. Despite production on the LFA ending in 2012, Templin said the LFA paid dividends through research and development, some of which has helped develop other Lexus products.

This makes me sad; the LFA was such an awesome machine. I hope he's lying and a successor is really six months away.
