The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu spent thousands of hours fine tuning its cooling systems in the Climatic Wind Tunnel as part of its extensive testing before it goes on sale in late 2015.

GM is teasing the new Chevy Malibu again, leading up to its debut next month at the New York Auto Show.

The new photo shows a heavily camouflaged prototype of the car undergoing testing. GM says that the Malibu is set to lose around 300 pounds while gaining an additional 4-inches in the wheelbase.

The steep rear roofline can be seen clearly in this new photo, new styling that GM hopes will help the Malibu catch up to its midsize sedan rivals.

In the photos, the Malibu is being tested in a climatic wind tunnel, just one part of the car’s 1.5-million mile stress testing procedure that involves driving the cars over rough roads, through intense heat and bitter cold.
