Ford has reached a new milestone with its EcoBoost engines.

Launched in 2009 on the Ford Taurus SHO, the American automaker has produced its five-millionth EcoBoost engine, with the milestone motor going under the hood of a Ford Focus. It was less than three years ago that Ford produced its 500,000th EcoBoost-equipped vehicle and the company hit the two-million mark in October 2013. As more and more models get equipped with the technology, the company is now producing over 200,000 EcoBoost engines on a monthly basis.

This year also marks the first full year that customers can opt for an EcoBoost engine in almost all of Ford’s passenger vehicle lineup, save the C-Max Hybrid. The fuel-saving technology is also available in every region Ford serves.

Ford’s family of EcoBoost engines include the 1.5-, 1.6-, 2.0- and 2.3-liter four-cylinder mills, as well as 2.7- and 3.5-liter V6 variants.
