Mazda's mid-sizer will break cover at the end of the month.

Mazda wasted no time kicking off 2024. The Japanese brand on Tuesday confirmed the 2025 CX-70 would debut January 30 via the Mazda Canada Instragram account.

As the name suggests, the CX-70 would slot in between the two-row CX-50 and three-row CX-90. We expect that tweener status to apply to the CX-70's styling as well. Not that this draped teaser gives us even a taste of the final product: for starters, the aspect ratio looks off, while the grille area sits above the headlights, a look that is distinctly un-Mazda. Oh, and there are no side mirrors.

Price-wise, the latest Mazda family member should also find the middle ground between the CX-50 and CX-90. For 2024, those two start at $31,675 ($41,395 CAD) and $40,970 ($48,095 CAD) including destination charges. Based on that, the CX-70 is likely to start around $35,000 in the US, or $45,000 CAD in Canada.

One area the CX-70 won't pull the Golidlocks approach is in the engine bay. As AutoGuide uncovered last month, the CX-70 will arrive sporting the entire CX-90 engine lineup. That includes two power levels of the excellent new 3.3-liter turbo inline-six, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.5-liter inline-four, electric motor, and 17.8-kilowatt-hour battery pack. All-wheel drive is likely standard, as it now is on all other Mazda SUVs. Power levels and fuel economy figures are unknown at this time, however.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 reveal presentation is scheduled for January 30, at 1100 EST.

As a CX 50 owner and enjoying it. The inline 6 and 8speed is interesting to me. I don’t need the 3 row 90 so the 70 might just be the right size for my needs.

    Waiting……….
