GM Investing $1B in Warren Technical Center
General Motors has announced another large investment into its Michigan-based operations.
GM plans to spend $1 billion through 2018 on its Warrren, Mich., technical center. The investment will see the addition of 2,600 new jobs, many of which will be in product engineering, IT and design.
The money will go towards construction of a new design studio along with a parking facility for the studio, rebuilding and renovating the existing R&D facilities, construction of a new multi-story IT building, adding testing areas to the Advanced Energy Cneter and general office upgrades including new carpet, paint and furniture.

“This is an investment in our people who work at the Tech Center because it is positioning the company for long-term growth by enabling new levels of innovation and collaboration into our workplace,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president, Global Product Development and Purchasing and Supply Chain. “We will transform this campus into a collaborative workplace of choice for our current team and future talent.”
This move is part of a larger $5.4 billion investment to support American manufacturing.

The GM Tech Center is a really cool place. It should probably by on the registry of historic places given all the history that's taken place at the facility. It's really cool!
