Mazda is taking the high road and replacing the first wrecked 2016 MX-5 Miata.

After taking delivery of a brand new MX-5, the owner and his wife were less than a mile away from the dealership when they got rear-ended by a Ford F-150 pickup. The accident pushed the brand new Miata into the car in front of it, resulting in damage to both the front and rear end of the roadster. Thankfully, both passengers in the Miata didn’t suffer any serious injuries, although the owner’s wife did take a trip to the hospital with the EMTs while the owner went to the Care Spot facility a day later to get checked out.

A few days later, the dealership that sold the Mazda, Tom Bush Mazda, contacted the owner saying that if a few things came together, things would hopefully be made right. That’s when the Japanese automaker itself stepped in, saying that it’ll be sending a brand new replacement, something it’s obviously not obligated to do. Hopefully, this one fares a lot better than the first one!

Great news: after hearing about the accident, @MazdaUSA is sending him a brand new Miata next month! pic.twitter.com/DHsv1hS12T

Mazda should have replaced it with a Z4. The Miata is just so damn Anemic on horsepower to start with. Hell the Ford Fiesta ST has 197 hp to the MX-5 with 167 hp available. It's a joke.

Purchased my MX5 from Tom Bush Mazda in October 1990, it's a 1991 with 270,000 miles. Great Car and still purring along.
