Buick has confirmed to dealers that there will be a 2018 Buick Regal Wagon available in the U.S.

The news comes from a GM Inside News correspondent who attended the annual Buick-GMC dealer meeting last week in Austin, Texas. In addition, dealers were shown the 2018 Enclave, 2018 Regal and Regal GS.

The model is expected in North America as a rebadged Opel Insignia Sports Tourer. No powertrain info was offered, but don’t expect it to stray too far from the regular Regal.

If GM’s trademark applications are anything to go on, it could wear the Buick Regal TourX name, indicating AWD is likely.

This is an odd move for the American automaker, as the wagon sales in the U.S. market are low and automakers continue to discontinue their wagon models as consumers gravitate towards crossovers.

Give it the Hybrid Malibu powertrain and it can sell very well. Then make it a "plug-in hybrid" later to compete with the Ford C-Max Energi.

They need to bring it with Diesel options and Made in Germany where they actually still make quality cars, not the States. I just came from Europe and this car is a looker. The Diesel would give it amazing furl economy compared to gasoline, even though gasoline is cheaper in US. In Canada diesel is cheaper and this car would work real well with it.
