Volkswagen has revealed that it will premiere the long wheelbase version of the Tiguan at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and that, in Europe, it will be called the Tiguan Allspace.

The extended version of the Tiguan will be longer than the new Tiguan that premiered in Europe earlier this year and will seat up to seven people. Despite that, it should still be smaller than the new Atlas, which is the biggest VW ever offered in America.

The Tiguan Allspace will be a few inches shorter than the Ford Edge and a bit longer than the Kia Sorento.

Volkswagen has also announced that North Americans will be the first to get the Tiguan LWB, followed by China, and then Europe.

The North American International Auto Show starts on January 8, 2017.

Oh my, is that an ugly looking car! Only the car's mother could love such a hideous looking face. The Atlas is no better. I was planning to, but two major reasons for me not to trade my 2010 Tiguan Tiptronic to this long wheelbase version are: 1. It's only available with the DSG automatic transmission (and maybe manual). No Tiptronic/traditional slushbox. 2. It looks like something built out of Legos. Seriously, Volkswagen? I mean, really?
