Dodge Demon Costs $20K More Than a Hellcat

The final piece of the Dodge Demon puzzle has been fit into place: the purpose-built drag racer will sell for $86,090 including destination fees and gas guzzler tax in the U.S.

Buyers will be able to unlock this car’s full performance, which means 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque, for just $1 (yes, one dollar), although obtaining the most comfortable Demon will come at a price. In comparison, the 707-hp Hellcat, a car that is already insane, starts at $64,195.

Dodge is offering the Demon Crate, a set of performance parts and tools that are worth roughly $6,140, to buyers for just a single dollar, allowing owners to unlock the full drag strip potential of the Demon. The Crate includes things like the performance powertrain control module that allows the car to run 100-octane race fuel, a Conical performance air filter, front-runner drag wheels, a cordless impact wrench, a hydraulic floor jack and more.

As standard, the Demon only comes with a driver’s seat, but getting the rest of the seats reinstalled will cost just $2, one dollar for the front seat and one for the back. If you need carpet in the trunk, that can also be added back in for just $1.

If you’re looking for a comfortable Demon, get ready to pay up. Red seatbelts are the cheapest interior option at $195, while opting for the $1,595 leather front seat group brings along Alcantara suede covered leather seats that are heated and ventilated, premium floor mats, a power tilt/telescoping wheel and bright pedals.

The comfort audio group is worth another $995 and adds an 18-speaker 900-watt Harman Kardon audio system that has two subwoofers. For exterior looks, a black satin hood is available for $1,995 while an entire black satin graphics package can be had for $3,495. Dodge will also bundle the leather front seat group and audio package together for a grand total of $2,495, a savings of about $100.

For those who must have a sunroof in the Demon, get ready to shell out another $4,995. All told, if you opt for the most comfortable Demon possible with a sunroof, the car’s price can climb up to about $93,000, before you decide to add black satin graphics.

The Demon has plenty of accolades that the brand believes make it worth the price. The Demon now claims the fastest production car zero-t0-60-mph acceleration time of just 2.3 seconds, while it is also the first-ever production car able to produce a wheelie as certified by Guinness World Records. Once fully converted into drag strip mode, the Demon can run a 9.65-second quarter mile at 140 mph.

Production will be limited to 3,300 units, with 3,000 headed to the U.S. and 300 going to Canada. Each Demon will be covered by FCA’s three-year/36,000 mile limited vehicle warranty.

Dodge is doing its best to take care of Demon buyers with extra services, offering them a single day of instruction at Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving. Dodge has also named Hagerty as the official insurance provider for the Demon.
