Grabowski Brothers Racing and Crawford Performance will be using a Subaru Crosstrek engine in their race car.

The desert racer will be competing in this weekend’s Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico, and will be piloted by Dusty and Parker Grabowski. The two brothers hail from Upland, California, and have won multiple championships in short course racing and are looking forward to their rookie attempt at the Baja 500. Their race car will be powered by a Subaru Boxer engine built by Quirt Crawford. In preparation for the Baja 500, the team entered its Class 5 race car in the McKenzie’s 250 race in Lucerne, California, where they won their class by over an hour.

The Baja 500 kicks off at 10:00 AM Pacific on Saturday, June 3, and runs through the upper area of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. The race is a 516-mile loop that starts and finishes in Ensenada, Baja Mexico.

“Subaru has historically competed in off-pavement racing like stage rally and rallycross, so putting this Crosstrek to the test in desert racing will once again show our fans the performance and durability of the Subaru BOXER engine, stated Subaru motorsports marketing manager Rob Weir. “We’re excited to be involved with Grabowski Bros racing, and be entered in the Baja 500.”

So how about a little more oomph in the Crosstrek engine that is in the Crosstrek?
