This G-Wagen was made for going off-road, not just climbing curbs in the burbs, and you can actually buy it.
This is an immaculately restored 1985 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen soft top finished in an awesome shade of yellow. Before the G-Wagen went the way of Land Rover and started selling luxury trucks to football players, they played in the mud with the best of them, able to drive over any terrain and through any obstacle.
Before the G-Wagen debuted, the prototype endured thousands of miles of testing in German coalfields, the Sahara Desert, and the Arctic Circle. In 1985, the G-Wagen featured a ton of options that off-roaders need in an adventure-mobile, including locking differentials, widened fenders, and a winch. We love this soft top version, and it even has bench seats in the back so you can carry all your troops with you. The price might be a bit steep for a 32-year-old truck, but it’s about half the price of a new G-Class, and you’ll look much cooler while driving it.
