BMW is working on an M2 Gran Coupe with 365 hp and an available six-speed manual transmission.

According to Autocar, the M2 Gran Coupe will debut sometime this year or early next year before arriving in BMW showrooms in 2019. The liftback performance sedan will feature the same turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine as the M2 Coupe, but with the added practicality of rear seats and a larger cargo area. A six-speed manual transmission will be on tap, along with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic.

The M2 Gran Coupe will be joined by a plug-in hybrid version of the four-door called the 225e. It will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine paired with an electric mounted within the eight-speed automatic transmission. With a lithium-ion battery pack fixed in the floor of the vehicle, it should provide a pure electric driving range of around 31 miles. Standard 220i and 225i Gran Coupe models should arrive as well with BMW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine under the hood.

We’re expecting to see the BMW 2 Series debut sometime later this year, perhaps at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
