The all-electric Kia Niro is currently undergoing cold weather testing in the Arctic Circle.

Earlier this year, Kia unveiled the Niro EV Concept at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show, previewing the future all-electric crossover set to arrive later this year. Final details and specifications on the production Kia Niro EV have not been announced, but the Korean automaker did say the concept was capable of returning 238 miles of driving range on a single charge. Expect the production model to be similar in range.

The Kia Niro EV will serve as one of five fully-electric cars Kia plans on selling by 2025. Joining the Niro EV in the near future will be the next-generation Soul EV.

Although this prototype is wearing heavy camouflage, our spy photographers point out the lack of an exhaust and engine sound confirm it’s the all-electric variant. There’s also a different design on the wheels.

Look for more details on the Kia Niro EV to surface later this year, as it should head to market as a 2019 model.
