The 2018 Mazda CX-5 was awarded as AutoGuide.com‘s Utility Vehicle of the Year and we were able to catch up with the Japanese automaker at the New York Auto Show to hand them the trophy.

Masahiro Moro, CEO and President of Mazda Motor of America, was on hand to receive the award.

“We’re humbled and thankful to the editors of AutoGuide.com to have the 2018 Mazda CX-5 named the website’s Utility Vehicle of the Year,” Moro-san said. “For us, the CX-5 represents beauty in its design and joy through driving performance, efficiency, and craftsmanship. The CX-5 impressed the AutoGuide.com editors because it was very clear that Mazda benchmarked a vehicle segment that’s far more expensive. The crossover is well-rounded and has strong value with its stylish looks, excellent driving dynamics, and premium interior. For our annual award, we look for vehicles that go above and beyond what is expected in its class to elevate the segment and set a new benchmark, and Mazda’s upscale aspirations helped it pull ahead of its competitors.

AutoGuide.com readers also voted for the CX-5 as the Reader’s Choice Utility Vehicle of the Year for 2018.

Congratulations, Mazda.
