Mercedes-Benz has previewed a new concept it will bring to the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach later this summer.

The concept, referred to as the Electric Silver Arrow concept internally, is a single-seater vehicle inspired by retro Mercedes racecars such as the 1938 W154. The look of the vehicle is previewed by the interesting creation pictured in the gallery above, which Mercedes calls the Aesthetics Progressive Luxury sculpture. The sculpture features a long hood, a large rear stabilizer ‘fin’ and a central driving position – features that will almost certainly appear on the Electric Silver Arrow when it debuts in late August.

Powering the Electric Silver Arrow will be some sort of electric powertrain, obviously – making the design study a reminiscent of the retro-inspired, fully electric Infiniti Prototype 9 concept that debuted at Pebble Beach Last Year. The racing-inspired concept is intended to promote Mercedes new ‘EQ’ electric vehicle sub-brand, and as such, could feature a similar electric powertrain to the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQ C crossover.

We’ll have full details on the Electric Silver Arrow concept as soon as they become available.
