2020 Honda Civic Si Gets New Looks, Technology

Some performance and exterior styling updates are coming to the Honda Civic Si for the 2020 model year. The looks have been refreshed to reflect the aggressive personality of the car. Performance has been tweaked to match. Honda has modified the final-drive ratio, which should give the new Civic Si better acceleration over the last year. As a bonus, the suite of driver-aids called Honda Sense is now standard on both the Sedan and Coupe.

The 2020 Honda Civic Si offers many standard performance-enhancing improvements in the Civic family of cars. A six-speed manual transmission is the only available gearbox, which should please the manual gearbox hold-outs. Power from a turbocharged four-cylinder engine is rated at 205 horsepower and 192 torque from 2,100 rpm to 5,000 rpm. A limited-slip differential should help keep all those ponies and torque going to the wheels. Adaptive dampers in the suspension are adjustable between two modes. New this year is a 6-percent reduction in the final-drive ratio, which Honda says should provide a better acceleration feel – though not necessarily more speed.

Changes to the outside and inside give the 2020 Honda Civic Si a more aggressive look than before. For 2020, the standard Si headlights are now multi-element LED, which should improve the amount of light they emit. LED fog lights have been added to match the look. This updated design features tweaks that add gloss-black surrounds to the fog lights and bumpers, which match the matte black 18-inch wheels. Performance all-season tires are standard, but summer-only tires are available as a factory option.

Inside, the sport seats in the 2020 Honda Civic Si have been improved in both look and feel by adding red trim. Matching red highlights are on the instrument panel.

2020 adds a host of technology to the standard Civic Si package, including Honda Sense. Honda’s driver-assistance tech package includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist System, Collision Mitigation Braking, Forward collision warning, Road Departure Mitigation, and automatic high-beam headlights. Honda has also added pumped-in audio to the 2020 Honda Civic Si, which uses the 10-speaker, 450-watt sound system for engine noise during aggressive driving. Standard tech also includes a 7-inch touchscreen, a power moonroof, pushbutton start, and walk-away auto-lock.

The 2020 Honda Civic Si has an MSRP starting at $25,000. Estimated fuel economy is 26/36 mpg city/highway, or a combined 30 mpg. All members of the Honda Civic family have a 5-start safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and a Top Safety Pick + from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. New 2020 Honda Civic Si models should start arriving at dealerships beginning on September 6th.
