MotorTrend App Launches on Apple TV

If you’re passionate about cars, we have some good news.

The Streamable is reporting that Apple is bringing the MotorTrend app to its connected TV. For those unfamiliar with the app, MotorTrend’s streaming platform features around 7,500 episodes of various car based series. It also includes specials like the first two seasons of “Top Gear America” starring Dax Shepard, Rob Corddry, and Jethro Bovingdon. Other content includes Kevin Hart’s Muscle Car Crew, Motor Mythbusters, NASCAR 2020: Under Pressure, Roadkill, Fastest Cars in The Dirty South and more.

“The availability of MotorTrend in the Apple TV app is the latest step in our distribution goal of making MotorTrend’s premium streaming video content catalog available to fans on all major platforms,” states MotorTrend’s VP of digital partnerships and distribution Mark Jocson. He continues “We’re thrilled to now deliver the world’s best automotive entertainment, including the newest episodes of TOP GEAR AMERICA, to customers directly through the Apple TV app.”

The MotorTrend content, where available, can be viewed through high definition thanks to Apple TV featuring HDR10+ technology in its app. HDR10+ puts more information into each video frame, offering owners of supported TVs a better high-def experience.

Up yo six users can use the MotorTrend app on a single account, and it’s possible to download episodes to watch offline via the Apple TV app. The Apple TV app is available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac. As well, smart TVs, Roku, Amazon Fire TV devices, Chromecast with Google TV, PlayStation, and Xbox gaming consoles can also stream Apple TV.

The addition of the MotorTrend streaming app comes amidst rumors that Apple TV is considering launching a cheaper version of its streaming device sometime this year. It could be to counter the recently announced cheaper version of Google’s Chromecast that will be hitting shelves in October.
