Leaked Buick Electra E4 Show A Production Version Of Electra X Concept

Buick readies its EV onslaught for China, and possibly, North America.

We’ve already talked about the Buick Electra E5; Buick’s first Ultium platform-based EV effort that’s just made its debut in China. Now, another Ultium-based EV has shown its face via the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) as it goes through its final approval processes in the country.

Wearing a similar design look to the Buick Electra X concept, the Buick Electra E4 appears to be a sleek, crossover that definitely skews more toward the hatchback side, rather than a more boxy and upright shape like the Electra E5. The Electra E4 is low-slung and swoopy, with a front fascia that includes small running lights at the top, with the actual headlights integrated into the lower valance, next to chrome trim. At the back, a full-width tail light bar sits under the rakish (and fairly small) rear window.

Leaked specifications from the MIIT show the Electra E4 coming in at about 189” in length, 20” longer than the Bolt EUV, but about an inch shorter than the forthcoming Chevrolet Equinox EV. However, as a luxury brand, it’s expected that the Buick Electra E4 would sit above the comparatively pedestrian Chevrolet.

The official production details like power, range, and pricing, are expected to be revealed before the car goes on sale in China, likely in the second half of 2023. Some sources insist the Electra E4 will be a China-only model, but GM hasn’t confirmed all of Buick’s North American EV plans.
