The history of the Chevrolet Corvette is inextricably linked with top-down motoring.

When Chevrolet unveiled the C8 Corvette last night, there were a lot of surprises, but the two biggest ones were the 0-60 MPH time and the price. Considered together, Chevrolet’s promise that the C8 will start below $60,000 and hit 60 mph in less than 3 seconds is wildly impressive.

Chevrolet has finally taken the veil off its first production mid-engine Corvette. At an event held in southern California, Chevrolet revealed that the C8’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 would make 495 HP and 470 lb-ft of torque (when fitted with the performance exhaust) and that it would hit 60 mph in less than 3 seconds with the Z51 package.

Tonight Chevrolet is looking to introduce its next-generation Corvette. Yes, that one, with the mid-mounted engine and the super-car profile. That’s happening TONIGHT!

If you want to keep up with the rest of the supercar industry these days, you’ve got to be playing around with active aerodynamics. And now GM is primed to throw its hat in the ring with the catchily named “variable-width aerodynamic spoiler assemblies and control logic for motor vehicles.”

A fresh set of blurry spy photos popped up yesterday, claiming to confirm the existence of a mid-engine Corvette. 

Dutch boutique supercar maker Spyker has priced its new supercar, the C8 Preliator, at $354,900. 

Think of it as Spyker’s version of a Porsche GT3. Unveiled at the LA Auto Show, this stripped down special edition of the Spyker C8 Laviolette weights just 2,805 lbs and makes a significant 400hp thanks to its Audi-sourced 4.2-liter V-8. Spyker claims this is good for a 0-60 mph sprint of 4.5 seconds (which sounds underrated) and a top speed of 187 mph.
