Autopom! stands for "automotive peace of mind" and is an extended warranty provider headquartered in Lake Forest, California. It has been in business since 2010 and holds close ties with the insurance industry. All of its plans are administered by Mercury Insurance Group, United Car Care, Enterprise Financial Group, or Royal Administration. Each of these insurance companies has an A rating from AM Best.

Autopom! reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The company has a 4.7- out of 5.0-star score from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and it earns 4.9 stars on Trustpilot.

Autopom! Extended Auto Warranty Coverage

There are three coverage options offered by autopom!:
  • Exclusionary: Extensive plan that covers nearly all mechanical and electrical vehicle components. You'll get coverage for the engine, transmission, transfer case, drive axle, steering, electrical, air conditioning, braking, cooling, and fuel systems among others.
  • Mid-Level: Covers powertrain components and some components of the steering and braking systems
  • Powertrain Plus: Offers protection for your car's major systems, including the engine, transmission, transfer case, drive axle, differential assembly, air conditioning, and basic electrical components

Autopom! has a number of different contracts within each level of coverage. Warranty plans between different administrators vary a little in coverage terms and details. In some cases, plans are classified as mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI). MBI plans are only available in certain states, such as California.

According to some autopom! reviews, MBI coverage policies are more comprehensive and less expensive than vehicle service contracts. This may be because MBI plans are regulated by the state insurance commissioner, and vehicle service contracts are not.

Autopom! will not cover limited production or high-performance vehicles. It also does not cover any vehicle that has been declared a lemon (a vehicle with severe manufacturing defects).

To keep your autopom! contract valid, you must maintain the manufacturer's recommended service schedule and keep verifiable receipts. Light commercial use is allowed for covered vehicles, but you must pay a surcharge.

In addition to covering repairs for listed components, autopom! service contacts come with these additionals benefits:

  • Rental car reimbursement
  • Interest-free payment plans
  • 24-hour roadside assistance and towing
  • Trip protection (protection from road hazards like potholes and nails)
  • Trip interruption reimbursement

Autopom! Warranty Costs

The cost of an autopom! extended warranty is determined by your vehicle model and age. Different plan administrators will also offer different options, and your final price will be determined by your level of coverage and chosen deductible.

With most autopom! contracts, you can choose between several deductible options. We reached out for quotes on a 2017 Ford Explorer with 45,000 miles and were given the following prices for a $100-deductible plan:

Autopom! Plan

Term Length

Price

Down Payment

Final Cost

Cost Per Year of Coverage

Exclusionary

5 years/100,000 miles

$136.04 for 24 months

First payment

$3,264.96

$652.99

Powertrain-Plus

5 years/75,000 miles

$106.24 for 24 months

First payment

$2,549.76

$509.95

Our price analysis found that the average cost per year of coverage for a bumper-to-bumper plan is around $800, and the average cost per year of coverage for a powertrain plan is around $600. This means that rates for autopom! Exclusionary and Powertrain-Plus plans are both a bit lower than average.

This price analysis is for an autopom! vehicle service contract. Based on autopom! reviews, autopom! MBI policies may be even cheaper than its vehicle service contracts. Keep in mind that MBI policies are only available in certain states.

Autopom! Quotes and Claims

To get an autopom! quote for yourself, you can visit the website or call, and be ready with your vehicle make, model, and vehicle identification number (VIN). When we asked for a quote, the wait time was very short, and the entire quote process took less than 10 minutes.

Autopom! reviews indicate that the quotes process is pleasant and easy for most customers. Customer service representatives are excellent at matching motorists with policies based on coverage needs.

Autopom! Claims Process

The claims process is fairly standard. Bring your vehicle to a licensed repair shop, and give your vehicle protection plan information to the service manager. The service manager will contact your plan administrator for authorization after performing a diagnostic. Assuming your car repair is covered, the plan administrator pays all fees, and you only pay your deductible (if you have one).

One of the strongest selling points for an autopom! contract is that the company makes a special effort to help customers with claims. While claims are administered by third-party administrators, autopom! will intervene on a customer's behalf if it seems a claim is unfairly denied.

Autopom! does not pay out claims itself, so it has a vested interest in ensuring customer satisfaction and making sure as many claims are fulfilled as possible.

Autopom! Reviews and Ratings

Autopom! reviews are extremely positive. The company holds an A+ rating from the BBB. Additionally, there is only a single customer complaint on the BBB website in the past three years.

Many customers report that when claims were denied by plan administrators, autopom! stepped in to resolve the issue. One customer even mentioned that the CEO of autopom! personally assisted with his claims service.

Customers who leave negative feedback generally complain about claims being denied. However, this is an issue with the contract administrator, not autopom!. Whenever such reviews were left, an autopom! representative was quick to contact the customer to assist with the claim.
