Rather than use a traditional hard top, the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider will reportedly make use of a retractable hardtop. According to a poster on TeamSpeed (with sources inside Ferrari) the unit will be to the one found on the Ferrari California.

The hard top is certain to add some weight, but not much. Otherwise, we expect everything with the Spider to stay the same, including the 570-hp 4.5-liter V8 engine and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the coupe, that engine allows fr a 0-62 mph time of just 3.4 seconds.
