2010 hyundai santa fe recalled for transmission failure

Hyundai is recalling 6,169 Santa Fe’s because the transmission has been found to be defective. According to the National Highway Safety Administration, the transmission may cause “loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash,”. The right- side output gear and intermediate shaft on affected 2010 Santa Fe’s will be replaced by Hyundai dealers.

This issue has been linked to an earlier recall of 12,690 Kia Sorento’s experiencing the same issue. Driving the Santa Fe in this condition will lead to a whining noise and eventually excessive wear due to misalignment will damage the automatic transmission.

how do we find out if vehicle is on recall list

  • Thomas H White Thomas H White on Feb 11, 2023

My name is Thomas White. About a year ago I acquired a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe that was slightly recked in front end. Had to replace front grill and bumper cover and right front fender. I fixed it back to like new. I gave it to my granddaughter for transportation to college. 2 months ago she called me and said it lost all power and would not pull. She lives in Indianapolis and I live in Louisville. She had it towed back home. I travelled there to inspect. While cold it drove good but after heating up it shifted hard from 1st to 2nd and slipped past second gear. The only code it set was 02 sensor. I replaced it and no change. Could this possibly be on a recall. Just trying to help granddaughter who is a student and trying her best.
