After an announced delay the BMW X1 will arrive in the U.S. shortly, making its debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show.

Complete details are scarce, but it appears that the X1 xDrive28i will make its way to Stateside sporting BMW’s new TwinPower Turbo 2.0L four-cylinder engine with 245-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The X1 has been a hot seller out in Europe, which was the reason for its initial delay over to America. The German automaker wanted to ensure that its supply would match demand before bringing the X1 over to another market.

If all goes well, the X1 xDrive28i could pave the way to our first M Performance Automobile here in America, in the form of the X1 M35i xDrive.
