After the recent unveiling of the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake (shown above), the German company is now working on its new CLA small coupe which will also get a shooting brake variant.

Based on the CSC concept, the CLA will take some characteristics of the bigger CLS, some cues from the CSC, and will be based on the same frame as the small A-Class. The shooting brake model will likely stay quite close to the original in style, except for the obvious addition of that big rear end.

A CLA45 AMG model is also rumored to be in the works, sourcing its engine from the A45 AMG. The CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake was recently revealed, showing that Mercedes is willing to invest its money into fast versions of all of its models, even the station wagons.

Watch for the CLA to bow sometime in early 2013, with the Shooting Brake variant to follow.
