Toyota Yaris With Lexus-Style Spindle-Grille Spotted in Chinese Diagrams

These photos of an aggressive-looking three-door Toyota Yaris have just surfaced in the Chinese media.

While the images appear to be patent drawings, the actual origin and purpose of the photos is unknown. The Japanese automaker already makes a three-door Yaris which they sell over here along with around the world, though this appears to be more than that.

The front is reminiscent of the new Lexus family face, using the signature “Spindle Grille.” This look has popped up on the new CT and GS, and will likely be on the new LS that debuts on July 30th.

The rear wheel-arches have been flared outwards like on an AWD car, so perhaps these diagrams are of the upcoming Toyota WRC car. The WRC Yaris would be competing against a Fiesta, both of which use 1.6 liter engines. The WRC Fiesta is a 1.6 turbo with AWD, so this is conceivable for the Yaris rally car.
