An all new platform now under development for the next generation Porsche Panamera is going to get some extra use from within the company, also underpinning all upcoming Bentley sedans.

The Volkswagen group is moving to a one-platform-fits-all philosophy, demonstrated by the brand’s MQB platform. This new Porsche platform, dubbed MSB, will have both two- and four-wheel drive applications and will use a mix of steel and high strength aluminum to improved weight distribution over current Bentleys.

The platform will also be designed to handle the next generation of Volkswagen’s v12 engines, the primary use of which will be in Bentley automobiles.
