Bentley Continental GT3 Racer Could Spawn Street Car

Fresh from its unveiling during the Paris Motor Show last week, Bentley’s GT3 race car might also become a limited-run street legal beast.

Official details are still hazy, but the car would likely take a similar place in the brand’s line as the old Supersport model, carrying a similar £200,000 price. If the model is built, it will be a four-wheel drive, less luxurious coupe — possibly with a 700-hp W12 engine. While nothing is final, recent reports suggest that if the project gets the green light, there would only be 300 units built between 2014 and 2015.

Of course, the car’s racing livery and massive rear wing wouldn’t make it onto the street car, but it would serve as Bentley’s range-topping model. While the GT3 race car shown in Paris is a rear-wheel drive car, the production version will use the same four-wheel drive system as every current Continental.

The 6.0-liter W12 engine also isn’t a guarantee. There’s a chance the car could get Bentley’s newer twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 instead.
