Ford’s C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid utility vehicle can carry you for 620 miles on a single tank of gas according to the EPA.

“The C-MAX Energi’s leading range also means customers can spend more time on the road and more money on their priorities instead of at the gas pump,” C-MAX chief engineer John Davis said.

That makes it “America’s most fuel efficient utility vehicle,” as the automaker said with pride today. In more tangible terms, that means drivers can travel from Detroit to New York or from San Francisco to Las Vegas without stopping at a gas station – in theory. EPA estimates often prove to be optimistic next to real-world tests.

Regardless, it beats the Toyota Prius Plug-In which can travel up to 540 miles without stopping. Even more significant, the C-MAX Energi can travel up to 21 miles in all-electric mode. For comparison, the Prius Plug-In will only travel six.

“The C-MAX Energi is the first plug-in hybrid to combine significant electric only range with great overall range on a tank of gas,” Davis said. “We expect many C-MAX Energi customers will commute largely on electricity, yet will still have the range, space and flexibility to take a long road trip without stopping every few hours.”

500 plus miles, but you will still stop at 250 or so to fill up as i know of no woman who will travel 500-600 miles without a bathroom break.
