The next BMW X5 M is currently in its testing phase, as our spy photographers captured a heavily-camouflaged model making its round at the world-famous Nurburgring race track.

Signature M features on the exterior of the SUV leave no doubt in our minds that this is the next iteration of BMW’s high-performance SUV offering. The quad exhaust tips and blue brake calipers are a dead giveaway; while the drilled rotors will be a first for the X5 model. The front end also looks to get a slight redesign, similar to what we see on the newest-generation 3-Series model.

As for what’s lurking under the hood, it’s a safe bet that the German automaker will outfit its X5 M with the same powerplant found in the current M5 and M6: a twin-turbo V8 with around 560 hp.
