Jeff Gordon was fined $100,000 and 25 points for his deliberate retaliation toward Clint Bowyer during Sunday’s AdvoCare 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway.

I take responsibility for my actions on the racetrack,” Gordon said. “I accept NASCAR’s decision and look forward to ending the season on a high note at Homestead.”

Gordon retaliated after Bowyer bumped his car during the race, incurring a fine and penalty from NASCAR. In light of his actions, some speculated that he might be suspended from the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday. That turned out not to be the case as NASCAR passed down the decision quickly yesterday.

But things got worse than just a wreck during last weekend’s race. A brawl broke out between the two teams after the crash as well.
