Mazda is looking to set a new world record for the “largest parade of Mazda cars” with its MX-5 Miata.

Hoping to gather up 800 Miatas in Lelystad, Netherlands on June 13, 2013, the automaker wants to best the current record of 459 MX-5s that gathered in Essen, Germany in 2010. Close to one million Miatas have been sold since it first hit the market, making it one of the most popular sport cars in the world.

Those interested in joining the meet in Netherlands and the world record attempt can register here – cost is 30 euros ($38) and includes lunch and drinks for two people.

You might want to research this a bit more... the record was broken by the MX5 owners club in the UK last year.

My mistake, turns out because they didn't pay for a representative of Guiness World Records to be there, it doesn't count... they got over 1000 though. The Japanese clubs had over 3000 going round one of the race circuits at their 20th birthday bash but again it doesn't count as a record because they wouldn't pay for a representative to be there,,, so the record currently stands at 400 odd... bit stupid but at least the record will be really easy to beat!!!
