ESPN and Hoonigan Racing announced this week that the Gymkhana GRID racing series will join the X Games.

Borne of the popularity surrounding Ken Block’s infamous series of Gymkahana YouTube videos, the Gymkhana GRID started in 2010. The event occurring during the Los Angeles X Games will take place on August 3 and will require separate tickets. Ford RallyCross races will also be running there.

“Gymkhana GRID is something that I’ve been in the process of building up for a few years now and I really think the fans and audiences at home are going to enjoy it,” Block said.

The races have drivers run identical courses that include figure eights, 180-degree spins and other tight driving maneuvers in a course composed of tires, cones, barrels and other obstacles.

Gymkhana GRID runs a seven-round series in Europe called the European Gauntlet, which begins Saturday, June 15.
