Lamborghini’s Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series made its North American debut today.

The series kicks off at Lime Rock Park, Conn. alongside the American Le Mans North East Grand Prix. Participants pay $17,500 per driver per day ($35,000 for the whole car) to drive a Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo. Teams from across the U.S. including Miami, Chicago, Beverly Hills, Dallas, New Jersey and the Carolinas are competing in Connecticut this week.

Subsequent events will take drivers to Kansas Speedway, Calabogie in Canada, Virginia International Speedway and Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.

Lamborghini bills the series as a “perfectly placed as a stepping stone for drivers aspiring to graduate to professional GT racing.”
