The Infiniti Q30 Concept signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle which will target a new generation of premium customers.

Infiniti will continue its product expansion by adding a new entry level Q30 model to its lineup, releasing a teaser sketch of the car ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

While unconfirmed, it’s expected to the new Q30 model will make use of a front-drive architecture as it aims to rival models like the Mercedes CLA and Audi A3 as the brand looks to, “target a new generation of premium customers.”

Will that mean it won’t deliver sporty driving dynamics? Not if three-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel has anything to say about it. Acting as Infiniti’s Director of Performance, Vettel has been involved int he Q30 project since its inception, working to ensure it is infused with, “race-bred performance.”

“This Infiniti Q30 Concept is a prelude to the product portfolio expansion which underpins our aggressive global growth strategy,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti. “In our quest to appeal to the modern, young-minded premium customer, the Infiniti Q30 Concept has a distinctive style and reaches new levels of product quality.”

That style is inspired by three recent concept cars, the Essence, Etherea and Emerg-e, most notably taking crossover-like design cues from the Etherea.

Infiniti will, however, bill the car as a sedan, as is evident by its badge, with the brand’s new naming strategy reserving Q for sedans and QX for crossovers.

The Q30 concept will debut at 10:15 local time in Frankfurt on September 10th.
