Ten years after its historic win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Bentley is set to return to the racing circuit this year, competing at the 12 Hours of Abu Dhabi with the all-new Continental GT3.

First unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year, the car has undergone extensive testing according to Bentley’s Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush. “The car has performed extremely well so far, and has matched or exceeded our simulations in every respect,” he said. “With 3000 km of testing completed already, the team is very pleased with progress and we’re gaining confidence in our package. We’re all looking forward to the Gulf 12 Hours in December and can’t wait to run the car against the competition for the first time in its first test race.”

Built in partnership with M-Sport Ltd., Bentley also plans a factory-backed effort in the 2014 FIA Blancpain Series with rumors that the car will also compete in the newly-formed United SportsCar Championship in North America.

Powering the Continental GT3 is a new 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine rated at 600 hp, while the car itself has undergone extensive weight reduction, dropping 2,000 lbs over the production model.
