BMW has announced that it is recalling 134,000 5 Series models due to malfunctions in the taillights.

The recall affects the 528i, 535i, 550i and M5 from model year 2008 to 2010. The problem is increased resistance at the taillight electrical contact points that can cause damage to the ground terminal and housing of the connector. If this occurs, these vehicles will have intermittent or permanent loss of their taillights functions.

BMW claims that no injuries or accidents have occurred as a result of this issue. To remedy the problem, BMW dealers will replace the rear lamp bulb carriers free of charge. For more info, owners may contact BMW customer relations at 1-800-525-7417.
