The 2001-2013 Kia Sorento SUV is under investigation after 15 consumer complaints have been filed stating that the glass sunroof had shattered on their vehicles.

An estimated 64,117 Sorentos will undergo a preliminary evaluation to determine if there is indeed a major issue and if a recall will be necessary for the Korean automaker’s SUV. 13 of the filed 15 complaints occurred while the vehicle was in motion, with one driver suffering minor cuts from the shattered glass according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Kia has sent an “early warning” field report to NHTSA regarding the issue and the Korean automaker has been evaluating the performance of its panoramic sunroofs as part of a standard practice for all models.

In a statement, Kia said that “to date, the identified cause of investigated sunroof breakage has been debris impact or hail,” and the company will continue to research the issue and share its results with NHTSA.
