Under the bright Hollywood lights, ordinary just doesn’t cut it – that’s why this year at the 2013 LA Auto Show, Volvo brought out its R-Design models.

The S60, V60 and XC60 all took center stage in R-Design trim this year for the Swedish automaker, sporting a bright red shade. Noticeably missing, however, were the signature Polestar-painted products, but it’s clear that Volvo is aiming at a new crowd. The R-Design vehicles feature a more aggressive front end, a frameless matte black grille with high-gloss black stripes, a silk metal diagonal and a refined R-Design emblem. Exterior changes are similar across all three models, adding more life and proving Volvo vehicles can be exciting and not just all about safety.

The interior of each car also sees upgrades with a blend of black nubuck textile and perforated leather found in each cabin. The embroidered R-Design logo with a blue “R” is a nice accent and the stainless steel tread plates also feature a bright blue “R” on them.

Both the S60 and V60 models are available with 19-inch wheels while XC60 owners can opt for larger 20-inch wheels. All three models were shown off on 2014 model year vehicles, as Volvo works hard to not only become relevant once again in North America, but become a respect global automaker.
