Photos of the new MINI five-door hatchback have surfaced. Known internally as the F55, the new MINI model is expected to take on the likes of the four-door Volkswagen Polo or Golf.

The name of the model has yet to be determined but is scheduled to debut in the fall of this year, which means it should be hitting dealerships in the U.S. by spring of 2015.

The F55 MINI will use the new MINI’s F56 as its base but the British automaker will shorten the front doors while adding two small doors to make it a five-door hatch model. It is likely that the model will offer a three-person bench seat as standard, similar to what is found in the Countryman and Clubman in some markets.

As for its style, the front of the F55 will be nearly identical to the new MINI that debuted at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.
