The latest and smallest Audi S model was officially revealed today, set to compete against the Mercedes A45 AMG.

Power is sent to all four wheels though the company’s Quattro all-wheel drive system from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder engine making 231 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to launch the car from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds.

Audi re-tuned the suspension with modified pivot bearings for improved cornering while the rear gets a four-link design rather than the A1’s compound link rear suspension. There are bigger brakes sitting behind 17-inch wheels with optional wider 18-inch wheels available.

Cosmetic touches include a more aggressively styled exterior. The cabin is finished in black tones and S sport seats with integrated headrests. Audi will charge €29,950 for the S1 and €30,800 for the S1 Sportback when they arrive in dealer showrooms during the second quarter of this year. Audi hasn’t said it plans to sell the car in this market.
